Hoho Entertainment has announced the appointment of Penguin Children’s Books as publishing partner for its new pre-school property, Cloudbabies in a deal that covers English language rights worldwide, excluding North America.
The number one children’s book publisher, is set to publish a series of book formats including storybooks, picture books, activity books and digital formats including ebooks and apps under its much loved and highly respected Ladybird imprint. The first series of books are due to be published in Autumn 2012.
Helen Howells and Oliver Ellis, joint MD’s and co-founders of Hoho Entertainment said “Ladybird is a trusted brand and has a very special place in the hearts and homes of children and parents alike. We are very proud of this association and excited to be working with Eric and his team who, we know, will create a spectacular range of Cloudbabies books that children will want to read over and over again.”
Eric Huang, Publishing Director for Media & Entertainment at Penguin Children’s Books, added: “We fell in love with Cloudbabies as soon as we saw it. The cute characters, quirky stories and soft learning elements lend themselves perfectly to a Ladybird programme for preschoolers.”
Cloudbabies is a CG animated show about four enchanting, childlike characters, Baba Pink, Baba Blue, Baba Yellow and Baba Green whose job it is to look after the sky and their Sky Friends - Sun, Moon, Rainbow, Fuffa Cloud and Little Star. They live together with Bobo White, a mischievous little imp, in a house on a big fluffy cloud. Every morning, they jump on their Skyhorsies and begin their day’s work.
The series was created by award winning art director, Bridget Appleby, will be animated in CGI by Manchester based Studio Liddell and has recently been acquired by CBeebies.
